read an article today for the International Film Festival held in Toronto lately... very nice read.. but while going thru some of the reviews, i realise that most of em ain't gonna see the light of day in Bolehland..
excerpt from the article:
It’s where George Clooney (here with “Up in the Air” and “The Men Who Stare at Goats”) and Oprah Winfrey (fronting for the Sundance hit “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”) sell the celebrity goods, giving journalists 10 minutes of face time and sidelined fans high-wattage smiles. It’s also where Werner Herzog unveiled one of the best movies of his career (“Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans”) and one of the worst (“My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?”).
makes u wonder how far our so called society has progressed socially and artistically. I always snicker at the anti-piracy ad in local cinemas, u know which one i'm talking about. It's got the tagline "malaysia produces great movies...." while burning a poster of .. wait for it... Cicakman....
need i say more.
so anyway, go ahead, take a read of the full article and if even half of the movies in that festival make it here, i'll put my movie downloads on hold for 2 days. heck, i may even go internet-less for a whole day ..... any takers?
